Last Wednesday, two major medical blogs (“Fat Doctor” and “Flea”) disappeared from the Web. The first becasue the author was identified by name and began taking flak from her colleagues, the second because it was revealed that its author was currently involved in malpractice litigation about which he was actively blogging. The loss of two popular blogs relating to the practice of medicine caused Kevin M.D. to dub the day Black Wednesday. Litigation can be difficult and distracting, both personally and professionally, as one can see from the disappearance of Flea’s blog, and the personal account posted on
Dr. Mary Johnson’s blog, “DR. J’S HOUSE CALLS” in which the author describes the impact of being named in a malpractice suit.
